Emerging markets are not only rife with opportunities for growth (as have been addressed in past conferences) but also with unjust exploitations and consequences in exchange for such growth – past and present. The latest challenges in emerging markets such as issues related to the well-being of people at many levels and environmental protection are largely results of the capitalistic chain of the globalizing world. Because of this, the issue of sustainable development becomes especially crucial to the emerging markets. Keeping up with the necessity to address sustainability in various aspects, within which business activities are embedded, the 5th International Conference on Management in Emerging Markets (ICMEM) 2020 addresses the notion of sustainable development, especially the ways in which business can respond to the society’s latest challenges.
